Vernon County Sheriff John Spears reported June 5 the arrest of Ray Dale Roberson, age 25 of Chicago, Illinois and Reginald James Townsend, age 18, of Rochester, Minnesota.

The arrests, which were made with the assistance of West Central Drug Task Force,  came following a four month subsequent investigation into trafficking of crack cocaine in the Stoddard, Vernon County, area.

Both men were arrested June 4.  Charges against Roberson include five counts of delivery of crack cocaine.  Charges against Townsend include possession and delivery of crack cocaine.

Crack cocaine, also called freebase cocaine, is a highly addictive narcotic in the form of light brown, beige or white, crystalline rocks often packaged in small vials or small zip-lock plastic bags.

In a press release,  Spears asked that people stay alert and be aware of suspicious activities in their neighborhoods, rural or otherwise.  This case was initiated and successful because of information from Vernon County citizens.

Charges have been referred to the Vernon County District Attorney for multiple felony drug counts.
