On August 28, 2013 at approximately 8:09 pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a truck versus motorcycle accident at Stage Road and British Hollow Road in Potosi Township. The preliminary investigation found that Joseph P Stelpflug, age 21 of Potosi, was traveling north on Stage Road in his 1992 Dodge Pickup approaching the intersection with British Hollow Rd.

David Edge, age 59 of rural Potosi, was traveling west on British Hollow Road with Joan Edge, age 59, on their 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Edge pulled onto Stage Road to head south and Stelpflug attempted to avoid the motorcycle, but a collision occurred. David and Joan were both ejected from the motorcycle.

Joan was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Grant County Coroner’s Office. David was transported to Grant Regional Health Center by Potosi EMS, but later died as a result of his injuries. Neither were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded and will be completing a total crash reconstruction. Assisting the Grant County Sheriff’s Office were Potosi Fire, Potosi EMS, Lancaster Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Donnie’s Tire and Auto of Dickeyville.

The crash remains under investigation.
