Platteville High School’s International Food Show Oct. 22 was a collaborative effort between the Introduction to Agriculture and Natural Resources class, taught by Jodi Marshall, and the Food Science class, taught by Danette Tessmann. Teams of students were assigned countries to research — agriculture, climate, raw food products and traditional cuisine. The teams each selected a recipe that reflected its country’s food traditions, studied the nutritional value of the food item, and prepared it. At the food show, the student teams presented their researched information and the food item they prepared. PHS’ Creative Writing class, taught by Sue Kies, attended the show and reviewed the food booths. Their assignment was to interview the presenters, taste the foods, and write up food critiques in magazine-type style.
