The Platteville School Board Monday night approved ending the school year for students at Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center and Westview Elementary School Thursday, June 2.

Students at Platteville Middle School and Platteville High School will get out Friday, June 3.

The dismissal dates are the result of only having one day off school so far this school year due to bad weather. The original 2015–16 school year calendar had Tuesday, June 7 as the last day of classes.

Platteville Public Schools superintendent Connie Valenza said Neal Wilkins and Westview students will get the state-required time in classrooms even with school ending three days early.

The early end of the Neal Wilkins and Westview year is also so that asbestos abatement work at Westview can take place as soon as possible as part of the school district’s building projects.

Platteville High School graduation remains Sunday, June 5. The last day of work will remain Tuesday, June 7 for school-year support staff and Wednesday, June 8 for school-year staff.
