TELETHON
The 39th UWPlatteville Badger Camp Telethon was held Saturday, raising $62,615.

PLATTEVILLE — Saturday marked the 39th year that UW–Platteville held its Christmas telethon in support of Wisconsin Badger Camp.

The telethon was televised on CenturyLink channel 5 and on southwest Wisconsin cable TV, and produced and broadcast from the Pioneer Tower. The telethon featured live entertainment, an auction, interviews with Wisconsin Badger Camp patrons, staff and supporters, with the theme “Once Upon a Time.” Community members were invited to visit the Pioneer Tower during the telethon and view the production.

“This year’s production was a wonderful success,” said Colleen Garrity, director of UW–Platteville Media Technology Services. “We had great support from the community, many returning alumni, and raised enough money to send over 100 campers to camp next summer,”

This year, the telethon raised $62,615.

“Overall, it was a huge success,” said Garrity.

The telethon crew consisted of Media Technology Services students. Media studies students and alumni were involved as well.

Wisconsin Badger Camp’s mission is to serve people with developmental disabilities by providing quality outdoor recreational experiences. The 680-acre camp in the Town of Wyalusing overlooks the Wisconsin and Mississippi River valleys.
