Musicale raffle raises $849 to support library programs

The Hillsboro Public Library Musicale July 11  at the lakefront gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park was a win-win for everyone: spectators, musicians, and participating civic groups. The weather was great, and the music was fabulous.

A raffle operated by the Hillsboro Lions Club generated $849 to support library programs such as Summer Reading, Hot Reads for Cold Nights, and the Drop-In and to provide “extras” not covered in the regular library budget.

Grand prizes in the raffle, their donors, and winners are as follows: signed Green Bay Packers Football donated by the Packers, won by Jeanne Hora; 30 minute airplane ride donated by Henry Peterson of  Nuzum Lumber, won by Dale and Diane Field; STIHL BG 55 blower donated by Hillsboro Equipment, won by Judy Mead; Mikasa wedding picture frame donated by Friends of the Hillsboro Library, won by Allen Verbsky; baby Afghan (anonymous donor), won by Jean Ashmore; handmade baby quilt donated by Vicki Sanders, won by Chris Fanta; Port Authority jacket donated by Royal Bank, won by Jan Endicott; handmade queen-size quilt donated by Yvonne Chapman, won by Lindsey Ziezter; homemade wine donated by Bob Hoefs, won by Jean Traeder; and morel mushroom walking stick donated by the Hillsboro Lions, won by Tasha Mueller.

“Our heartfelt thanks go to the musicians who donated their time and talent, local merchants and others who donated prizes, and everyone who helped make the event successful,” said Bob Potter, president of The Friends of the Hillsboro Library, organizers of the Musicale.
