Child passenger safety seat inspections will be held Aug. 5 at the Village Market parking lot in Viroqua from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Car seat inspections are available to all interested families. Car seats will be inspected by Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. Education will be provided to parents/guardians on proper installation and fit.
County residents are encouraged to have their child’s car seat inspected for recall, proper fit for child, and proper installation every season by a trained car seat safety technician to prevent unnecessary injury in the event of a car crash.
Free car seats will be available for low-income county families. They must be income eligible. Donations are welcome.
Income is based on 185% of the US Department of Health and Human Services Poverty Guidelines.
Seats will be distributed based on need at car seat inspection sites in Viroqua and by appointment. Child must be present and income must be verified.
Viroqua Area Buckle-Up Taskforce members received a grant from Wisconsin Department of Transportation to provide car seats to low-income families in Vernon County.
The number of seats to be distributed is limited. Contact the Vernon County Health Department for more information at 608-637-5251.
