Christmas in the Park planned
In Readstown

The Readstown Area Historical Society will be holding its annual ‘Christmas in the Park’ and Open House on Saturday, November 28, 2015. The tree lighting and caroling will begin at 6:00 pm in Bliss Memorial Park. We have invited Santa to join us as in years past for the children and the ‘children at heart’ to enjoy.

After everyone has gotten their treat from Santa and told him their wish for Christmas, all are invited to come to the Readstown Area Museum, located in the Readstown Municipal Building at 114 N. Fourth Street. There you can take your time and explore the Readstown and Area Country Schools’ display while enjoying coffee, hot chocolate, hot spiced cider and cookies. See the Readstown High School Christmas tree of the school colors of purple and gold. There will be candy treat-bags for all, and door prizes. Please join the Society members for a fun evening to kick off the Christmas Season. We hope to see you there!

The 2016 Readstown Pictorial Calendar has been delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. It is hoped that it will be available at the Open House.

The Readstown Area Historical Society is launching a new level of membership. If you have thought of becoming involved in this worthwhile and enjoyable organization, but do not want to attend monthly meetings, you can now become an ‘Assistant Member’. There are no membership dues, and you can become as involved as much or as little as you choose with various opportunities such as: docent at museum, cleaning, sorting, organizing, typing, designing and setting up or taking down displays, baking, helping at events such as the annual Chili Supper and much more. You choose what you want to take part in. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the history of the Readstown area and its residents, and to share your talents with the Society.  We encourage you to contact a Readstown Historical Society Member to learn more about this great new membership level. We would love to have you join us.
