Country music star Hunter Hayes will be performing at UW–Platteville’s spring concert at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium Sunday, May 1.

Gates open at the stadium at 4 p.m, and the event will proceed rain or shine. The opening act, yet to be determined, will kick off the concert at 6 p.m. and Hayes will follow at 7 p.m.

Tickets will be available Monday, and will cost $27 for anyone with a valid UW–Platteville ID (students, faculty, staff, etc.) and $32 for the general public. Ticket prices will increase on the day of the concert to $35 for everyone. Premier tickets are also available for $77 and guarantee seats in the first three rows.

Hayes won the Country Music Association award for New Artist of the Year in 2012, and won the Choice Male Country Artist award at the Teen Choice Awards in 2012, 2013 and 2014. One of his hit singles, “Wanted,” has sold more than 3.5 million copies and made Hayes the youngest male act to ever top the Billboard Hot Country Songs list. He has also been nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist in 2013.

Campus Programming and Relations Marketing Specialist Alexa Sieling said one of the goals of the concert is for those attending to have a good time with Hayes. “We know country concerts are highly attended at UW–Platteville and in the surrounding area, so that’s sort of why we chose him, plus he’s a star of country,” she said.

The event is co-sponsored by CPR and UW–Platteville Athletics, and follows the mission of UW-Platteville. “Enrich the Tri-States” is one of the four pillars of the university’s strategic plan, and this concert helps fulfill that mission. UW–Platteville offers cultural events for not just the university, but the city, Southwest Wisconsin and the entire Tri-State region.
