Members of the Soldiers Grove Trail Committee and some community volunteers cleared the first section of the planned Kickapoo River Trail along the riverway in Soldiers Grove.

Working on the stretch of trail following the Kickapoo River from the Pine Street Bridge to the old school building, the volunteers spent four hours on Sunday, Oct. 16 collectively turning the jungle of small to medium size trees and undergrowth into a walkable trail.

Those who worked on the project included Jim Dworschack, Lillian Lathrop, Caden Johnson, Pete Knapik, James Weber, Brian Steyer, Claud and Sam Lien, Ron Sanders, Joe and Ethan Lien, Brian, Michael, Johnathan and Tina Volden.

The trail committee announced that they were pleased to see this section of the Kickapoo River Trail completed and welcomed everyone to take a stroll.
