UW–Platteville is hosting a live auction on Saturday, Aug. 10 to sell a wide variety of items no longer needed on campus.

This sale will mark the first time the university has held a live auction to sell such items. Typically, the university holds an annual sale over several days to turn over items that are no longer needed on campus. This auction will have a wider variety of items than past sales, and will be a one-day event.

Items for sale include furniture, electronics, construction materials and industrial mechanical equipment.

The sale will be held Aug. 10, with a rain date of Saturday, Aug. 17 in parking lot 14, between Warner Hall and Royce Hall on the UW–Platteville campus. Free parking will be available in surrounding lots. Items will be ready for viewing by 8 a.m. and the sale will begin at 10 a.m. It will conclude when all items are sold.  Concessions will be available on site.

On Point Auction Service LLC of Mineral Point will be performing the live auction.

The public is welcome to attend and bid on items. Bidders must register the day of the auction with a positive ID. Cash, check or major credit card will be accepted. A 5 percent buyer’s fee applies to credit cards. Winning bidders are responsible for loading and removing their own items on the day of the sale.

Surplus property is defined as state property that does not meet program needs, does not function, is technically or mechanically obsolete, or is not needed in the foreseeable future to meet program responsibilities and has been replaced due to a replacement schedule.

UW–Platteville strives to be a responsible steward of state owned items, and encourages reuse of surplus items in the community. For more information and to see a photo gallery of items available, visit www3.uwplatt.edu/sustainability/surplus or www.onpointauctionservice.com.
