The City of Platteville Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Committee is seeking input from the public regarding a possible name change for the tractor/truck pull area at Legion Field to the “Dale Rupp Memorial Track.”

A request from Chris Mueller, president of Dairy Days, Inc., was presented to the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Committee and discussed at its June 24 meeting.

“This is an opportunity for the public to get involved,” said Director of Public Works Howard Crofoot. “Naming or re-naming a park facility can impact the community and we want to make sure we have heard from all those who have an opinion in this matter.”

The city has opened a comment period seeking public opinion, which will close Aug. 15 at 5 p.m. The responses will be compiled and will be presented to the Parks, Forestry, and Recreation Committee Aug. 19. The committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Common Council for a public hearing on Aug. 27.

Feedback regarding naming the tractor/truck pull area at Legion Field to the “Dale Rupp Memorial Track” can be addressed in a letter to The City of Platteville, Attn: Angie Donovan, P.O. Box 780, Platteville, WI  53818, or dropped off at City Hall, 75 N.
