The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, Aug. 18 and approved two resolutions relating to the operating room and emergency room manager.
The first resolution was in regards to the reduction of the current emergency room (ER) manager position, and the transition of the current ER manger-in-training to full time ER manager, with a pay increase.
The second resolution was in regards to the reduction of the current operating (OR) room manager position and the recruitment and hire of an in-training OR manager(s) to eventually take over the position when the current employee retires.
Currently, both the OR and ER manager position are filled by one person, Mary Roelli, who will as of Sept. 1 be reduced from a 0.9 full-time position to a 0.675 full-time position with a commensurate reduction in pay and benefits, which according to the fiscal notes of both resolutions will result in a reduction of fringe and wages of approximately $6,860 for the remainder of 2015.
The first resolution noted that upon Roelli’s position reduction, the current ER manager-in-training will transition to full-time ER manager and will be compensated an additional $1.50 per hour to $29.02 per hour from 20 to 40 hours a pay period.
According to the resolution’s fiscal note, the adjustment will result in additional wage and fringes for 2015 of approximately $620.
The second resolution noted that upon Roelli’s position reduction, the county would recruit and hire an OR manager(s)-in-training to be in training until July 31, 2016 or until Roelli retires, and compensate the new hire(s) an additional $1.50 per hour for half of their hours worked in a pay period while in training.
According to the resolution’s fiscal note the adjustment would result in an increase wage and fringes in 2015 of approximately $620 for one OR manager trainee and approximately $1,240 if there are co-managers.
Fiscal notes for both resolutions noted that as both of the changes were adopted, the net savings for the remainder of 2015 would be about $5,000.
