Hillsboro runner participated in deadly Boston Marathon
Joe Zant finished the race before the bloody scene at its end

A Hillsboro native participated in Monday’s tragedy-marred Boston Marathon.

Joe Zant, 21, son of Joe and Carmen Zant of Hillsboro, finished the race before two bombs exploded in crowded Boston streets near the race’s finish line, killing three people and injuring 176, 17 of them critically.

He was not injured.

Zant, who is a senior at Northland College in Ashland, was one of more than 400 Wisconsin runners registered to run the race. He was also one of some 350 who finished, according to the marathon’s website.

According to baa.org, Zant finished in 3:26:48.
