Through Sept. 28, staff members at the Platteville Public Library, 65 S. Elm St., will accept Food Pantry donations in lieu of fines for overdue library materials.

One canned or packaged food or non-food household item equals $1 credit in fines. Fresh and home-canned items cannot be accepted, and items in non-glass containers are preferred.

Food for Fines will not be accepted as credit for lost or damaged items, processing fees, or accounts that have been referred to the Tax Refund Intercept Program.
