The Platteville Community Fund is now accepting grant applications for its spring 2014 grant cycle.

Applications are due at the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin office in Janesville on Tuesday, April 15 by 4 p.m. Charitable non-profit organizations serving the people of the Platteville area are eligible to apply for grants; requests from individuals are not eligible.

Founded in 2002, the Platteville Community Fund is dedicated to improving the Platteville community by building a family of endowed funds designed to support projects and programs that enhance the arts, education, health and human services, the environment and historic preservation. The Platteville Community Fund made its first grant of $400 in 2005 to the Platteville Fire Department for the purchase of rescue strut. In the nine years that it has been making grants, the Platteville Community Fund has made 118 awards totaling almost $192,000.

The advisory board expects to make awards of nearly $30,000 during this spring 2014 grant cycle.  These monies are available as a result of legacy gifts provided through the estates of Clarence Gribble, Elinore Loveland, Margaret Keizer and Robert and Marjorie Hartshorn.

The grant application form is available online at www.cfsw.org. The form includes detailed instructions as to the components required for a complete grant application. Two copies of the grant application must be received at the Community Foundation office in Janesville by 4 p.m. on April 15.  Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

“The grant application is easy to complete and is available online,” said Nathan Curry, Platteville Community Fund Advisory Board chair. “All eligible applications are carefully reviewed by a committee composed of Platteville residents. Grant recipients will be announced in May.”

The Platteville Community Fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, a tax-exempt public charity.
