Power out in Platteville
Placeholder Image

Electric power went out on the western part of Platteville Sunday evening.

A blue arc was seen west of the Platteville water tower around 5:45 p.m. Electric power went out, flickered on, and then went out, and has been out since then.

The area of the blackout appeared to include Chestnut Street and parts of Platteville west of Chestnut Street. The stoplight at the intersection of Main Street and Chestnut Street was out, and no lights of any kind could be seen west of Chestnut Street from downtown.

A Platteville Police Department Nixle message described the blackout as "widespread" and said that Alliant Energy was "in the process of restoring electrical service."

Power was restored around 7:15 p.m.
