The late Friday afternoon snowfall resulted in 31 crashes or slide-offs reported by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Some areas received a light dusting of snow, others had approximately an inch, creating instantly slick roads.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation State Traffic Operations Center reported two road closures. Both lanes of U.S. 61 were closed from Kelly Lane to River Lane Road northwest of Dickeyville due to adverse weather conditions. The northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 151 between Grant County HH and Airport Road, also known as Dickeyville bottoms, were closed for slippery roadways.

The Dickeyville and Platteville fire departments were paged to 151 around 5:15 p.m. for traffic control because the roadway was blocked with disabled vehicles. About 15 minutes later the Jamestown Fire Department and First Responders, along with Dickeyville EMS, were paged to U.S. 61/151 at mile marker 4 for a one-vehicle rollover accident with no injuries. About 15 minutes after that, the Hazel Green Fire Department was paged to Wisconsin 11 at Mill Road for traffic control after a four-vehicle accident.

Lafayette County also had at least five weather-related calls for that same storm.
