Rollover accident results in injuries

A one-vehicle rollover accident occurred on CTH XX on Oct. 16.

A one-vehicle rollover accident resulted in four minors being transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries on Friday, Oct. 16.

A Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the rollover, which occurred on CTH XX in Belmont Township on Oct. 16 around 3:39 p.m.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s department, Jamie R. Sue, 16, Darlington was driving eastbound on CTH XX at 75 mph, then slowed to 60 mph when his front seat passenger (and sister), age 15, also from Darlington, grabbed for the steering wheel.

Sue was not able to maintain control of the vehicle, which crossed the center of the roadway and struck the ditch causing it to overturn, eventually coming to rest on its wheels, said the news release.

Sue, his sister, and two other passengers, age 11 and 5 were transported to Southwest Health Center by Belmont EMS with non-life threatening injuries. Sue was cited with Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed and Failure to properly Restrain a Child Between the Ages of Four and Eight. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
