SHULLSBURG – The City of Shullsburg met on Wednesday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. for a regular Common Council meeting.
Cory Ritterbusch was present to discuss a plan for tree planting at the Badger Park. Ritterbusch noted that he is getting certified as a tree manager for his part-time job at Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning.
Ritterbusch said, “Part of the process is I need to do a project and writing a park tree plan is among one of the options. I’m asking if I can submit a tree plan for Badger Park. There will be no cost to the city.”
A massive list of 94 identified trees that are in Badger Park was in Ritterbusch’s previous report, along with trees that should be removed.
The council approved going ahead with Ritterbusch making or updating a tree plan for Badger Park.
More Trees
Mayor Verne Jackson said, “Cory and I drove up to Parkview Subdivision and noticed some beneficial spots where trees could be planted to give the subdivision more privacy from County U traffic.
Ritterbusch said, “There are two out-lots that are city owned on the west side of the subdivision and that’s were the plantings would be advantageous. There was no tree planting in the original subdivision planning. What I have to propose is pretty simple, right now I’m thinking six trees. I will not be charging for my services, but the city will need to pay for the trees at a minimum of $2,500 and maximum of $4,000.”
The council agreed it would be a good idea. A motion was made and approved to move ahead with the project. In other city business:
