Boscobel hires new postmaster
Sherry Conroy1

For about a month now the Boscobel Post Office has had a new face in the building. Sherry Conroy, originally from Highland, is now the new postmaster, replacing Michaeleen Everson.

Conroy has been with the Postal Service for almost 33 years and still says she can’t imagine working in any other profession. However, she hasn’t always been on the postmaster side of the post office. Conroy also has experience working as an office clerk, carrier and in address management.

Along with working in a variety of different positions for the Postal Service, Conroy has also worked in a few different locations throughout her 33 years. She has worked in Livingston, Dodgeville, Highland and now Boscobel. While working in Dodgeville, Conroy was able to have a different experience when it came to dealing with all the ins and outs of Lands’ End.

So far, Conroy has found the Boscobel Post Office to be one of her favorite locations. “This is one of the best places I have worked as far as co-workers being self motivated and having a good work ethic,” she said.

Some of the responsibilities that Conroy will have on her plate as postmaster include keeping track of all employees, making sure the mail is being delivered on time and, most importantly, making sure the carriers are safe. Due to snowy and icy conditions lately, the weather has taken a toll on the safety of the carriers. Conroy would like to remind everyone to keep their sidewalks clean to make it easier for the carriers to get the mail delivered.

As of right now Conroy has no new changes she would like to make to the post office. Currently, she is still trying to get settled in and organized to help her be more familiar and productive with her work. However, she is hoping to eventually be in contact with the Chamber of Commerce and have a meet and greet.

Since Conroy has been a part of the post office business for so long, she has found many things she loves about it. However, some of her favorite things are working with people and all the changes that take place.

“The changes are so often and I am able to embrace change of any kind, which is something you would have to be able to do in order to do this job,” she said.

Outside of working at the post office, Conroy enjoys spending time with her family when they are home from college. Some of her favorite things to do are to travel and knit with a group of friends.
