Two people sustained minor injuries July 4 in a two-vehicle collision on Co. K in Hamburg  township.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua, at 12: 30 p.m. Lamine Rondeau-Rieder, 25, of rural Viroqua was driving east near Kreibich Lane when his vehicle crossed the highway and collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Michael Hagmann, 27, of rural Stoddard.

Hagmann’s vehicle traveled off the north side of the road and came to rest in a ditch near a private driveway. Hagmann sustained minor injuries, but declined medical transport. Hagmann’s passenger, Kimberly Wuensch, 24, of La Crosse was not injured. Both airbags were deployed and seat belts were used.

Rondeau-Rieder’s vehicle traveled off the north side of the road and came to rest on the lawn of a private residence. The air bags deployed.

Rondeau-Rieder left the scene on foot. He was located July 5 and identified as the driver. He told a deputy he swerved to miss a deer.

Rondeau-Rieder reported minor injuries and as of the time of this release, had not sought any medical treatment. He said he was wearing a seat belt.

Assisting at the scene were the Coon Valley Fire Department, Coon Valley First Responders, Stoddard-Bergen Fire Department and Tri-State Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
