Winter weather Saturday night update
Several area schools closed Monday

The Saturday night update on the predicted winter weather:

A Wind Chill Warning will be in effect for the entire state of Wisconsin, as well as northeast Iowa and northwestern Illinois, from Sunday at 6 p.m. to Tuesday at noon.

A Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect for Grant, Crawford, Vernon, Richland and Iowa counties from midnight to 6 p.m. Sunday, and for Lafayette County Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wind chills are predicted to drop to 45 to 55 degrees below zero early Monday morning and early Tuesday morning, creating conditions not seen in Southwest Wisconsin since February 1996.

Several school districts have already called off classes for Monday, including Cassville, Fennimore, Lancaster, Platteville and River Ridge.

Faherty Inc. has canceled garbage and recycling collection in Platteville, Darlington, the Town of Paris and the Town of Potosi Monday. An announcement will be made Monday about garbage pickup normally held on Tuesdays.

The Platteville Senior Center and Grant County Aging and Disability Resource Center meal sites will be closed Monday.

The Platteville Public Library announced Saturday that items due Monday will not be assessed overdue fees if patrons cannot get to the library to return them.

Piggly Wiggly in Platteville announced it will close Monday at 8 p.m.
