Arthur Dario Robiolio, age 94 of Darlington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. He was born Feb. 8, 1923 in New Jersey the son of Serafino and Irma (Boggio) Robiolio. Art was raised in New Jersey, and came of age during World War II, when he joined the nascent United States Air Force where he served with distinction & commendations as a B17 navigator on multiple combat missions in the European Theater.  Upon his return from war he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from St. Peters College while remaining active in the Air Force Reserve for a number of years, attaining the rank of captain.   Art was united in marriage to Decima Graham on Dec. 11, 1960 in New Jersey. He worked as an analytical chemist until his retirement, at which time he moved to Richmond, VA and later to Darlington.
Art is survived by his dear wife: Decima of Darlington; his two sons: Michael (Ann Lucas) Robiolio of Darlington and Paul (Aixa Martinez) Robiolio of St. Louis, Mo.; four beloved grandchildren, Hannah and Hope Robiolio of Darlington, and Amanda and Alex Robiolio of St. Louis; one great-granddaughter: Lily Robiolio of Darlington; and his beloved and caring extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister: Evelyn Bauer.
Art was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, and strove to live his life selflessly as guided by his faith. He adored his family and cherished the memories they created together. Art will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Aug. 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) where Rev. Joji Reddy officiated. Military Rites will be accorded by Bates-O’Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214. Burial will be held at a later date. A visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) where a rosary was prayed at 3:45 p.m. A visitation was also held Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the church. The Steil-Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
