Carolyn L. Peterson, age 86 of Darlington, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born May 18, 1930 in Darlington the daughter of Lawrence and Alta (Arnsmeier) Mill. Carolyn lived in the Darlington area all of her life. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1948. Carolyn was united in marriage to Lloyd D. Peterson on July 3, 1948 at Darlington United Methodist Church.  She operated the Lafayette County Home in Darlington Township with her husband for a number of years before owning and operating a boarding house for six years. In 1965, Carolyn began working as a Nurses Assistant at Lafayette Manor Nursing Home in Darlington until her retirement in 1995. She along with her husband was also Lancaster Monument Dealers for many years.
Carolyn is survived by one sister: Winifred Schwartz of Darlington; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on January 14, 1994; one brother: James Mill and one brother-in-law: Ray Schwartz.
Carolyn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington and its Women of ELCA. She enjoyed volunteering at Lafayette Manor where she took care of their flowers and spent her free time reading and latch hooking.  Carolyn was also a true animal lover and took care of many strays over the years.
A funeral service was held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church (1302 Clay Street, Darlington) where Rev. Craig Simenson officiated. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation was held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.  The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
