Cindy M. Ward, age 62 of rural Darlington passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at her home. She was born July 29, 1953 in Darlington, the daughter of William and Doris (Staver) Hicks. Cindy graduated from Darlington High School in 1971. She was united in marriage to Colin “Corky” Ward on July 1, 1994 at Little Brown Church in Nassua, Iowa. Cindy grew up in Darlington. She worked as an assembler for Merkl-Korf for over 30 years and later worked at the Super 8 Hotel in house cleaning.
Cindy is survived by her husband: Corky at home; one daughter: Christina (Brad) Ballweg of Prairie Du Sac; two step-sons: Tom (Joy) Ward of Monroe and Jim Ward of Jefferson; three grandchildren: Brason, Kylee, and Ashlynn Ballweg; two step-grandchildren: Jeniffer and John Ward; one step-great-grandchild: Marvelynn Ward; two brothers: Daniel (Shelly) Hicks of Argyle and David Hicks of Gratiot; and one sister: Becky Lyne of Shullsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; one stepson: Joseph Ward; one sister: Sharon McGlynn; two brothers-in-law: Gordon McGlynn and Clarence “Buster” Lyne; and one step-granddaughter: Jessica Davis.  
Cindy was very proud of her family and loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed going out to eat and dancing. Cindy will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Darlington United Methodist Church (546 Park Place, Darlington) with Rev. Angela Steinhauer officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
