Francis W. “Ed” Abing, 92, Platteville, died on Monday, April 13 at Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 17 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Platteville. Deacon Bill Bussan and Rev. Faustino Ruiz concelebrated. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Platteville, where military rites were accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274.  Visitation was from 4–8 p.m. on Thursday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville. There was a scripture wake service at 7:45 p.m. Visitation was also from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Francis Abing Memorial Fund.
