Gerald “Jerry” William McDonald was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Darlington, the son of William and Hazel McDonald. He passed away Jan. 17, 2012, at the age of 72, following heart surgery at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, Fla.
Jerry graduated from Darlington High School in 1957. On April 23, 1961, he married Mary Jane Black. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 23, 2011. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Darlington United Methodist Church, 546 Main St., (Park Place) in Darlington with the Rev. Larry Hakes officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at the church. Full obituary in the January 26, 2012 issue of the Republican Journal.
