James J. Upmann, Sr., age 72, of rural Shullsburg, WI, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 9, 1941 in Menominee Township, Ill., the son of Joseph and Margaret (Vogt) Upmann, Sr. Jim lived in the tri-state area all of his life. In 1975, he moved to Monticello Township in Lafayette County, where he has farmed since. He was united in marriage to Monica Chandler on January 27, 1979 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg. A public visitation was held Monday, August 19, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Shullsburg. Full obituary in the August 22, 2013 issue of the Republican Journal.
