Keith R. Wymore, age 78 of Shullsburg, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 1, 2018 after a two-year battle with leukemia. He was born in Ashland on April 18, 1939 the son of Harold and Sylvia (Hunt) Wymore. Keith graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Barb Mullen in 1961 in Shullsburg. She preceded him in death. He was later united in marriage to Janet Monahan in 1980. Keith served in the US Army for two-years and was stationed in Alaska. He was an agent for Standard Oil from 1965 to 1976. He also worked as a dispatcher for McMorHan and Russell Brothers. He drove school bus and kept score books for basketball games for over 50 years.
Keith is survived by his wife Janet of Shullsburg; his children: Jeff Wymore of Shullsburg, Pam Wymore of Shullsburg; stepchildren: Debra (Mike Weekley) Monahan of Shullsburg, Sherri Fowler of Livingston, La., Mick Monahan (Maria Lax) of Fitchburg, Jenny (Mike) Moyle of Dodgeville, and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sisters: Carol Rowe and two brothers: Dean and Wayne.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg, a 52-year member of Masonic Lodge #25 Free and accepted Masons, a 50-year member of Shullsburg VFW and Shullsburg American Legion, Shriners, and was a past member of Shullsburg Fire Department. He loved the Shullsburg Miners, and was a great fan of the WI Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Green Bay Packers. Keith and Janet were the first recipients of Miner Fans of the Year Award. Our family lost a great husband, father, friend. Shullsburg lost its greatest Miners fan.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg (226 W. Church Street, Shullsburg) with Rev. Stanton Bockwoldt officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg where military rites will be accorded by McCann-Richards American Legion Post #105. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Centenary United Methodist Church from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the church. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque and special thanks to Dr. Engelman and Amy Noonan, PA. Also a special thanks to the Angels of Dubuque Hospice. The family would also request that those who attend the visitation and/or funeral wear Miners or Badgers apparel.
