Leore K. Peterson, age 73 of rural Argyle, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. She was born April 23, 1945 in Boscobel the daughter of Donald and Iva (Knaus) Payne. Leore attended Boscobel High School and later graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1964. She was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Peterson on November 15, 1968 at East Wiota Lutheran Church in Lafayette County.
Leore was a charter member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church and its choir.  She was an active member of Argyle’s Women’s Club where she was President for several years.  She was also a part of Argyle Music Booster Club.  Leore enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, baking, playing cards, singing and listening to music, watching old shows, loved to laugh and was world famous for her potato salad. She cherished her family and the memories they created more than anything else in the world. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Leore is survived by her husband Gene at home; her mother Iva Payne of Cuba City; daughters: Lori (Roger) Vogel of Monroe, Lisa (Jeff) Johnson of Argyle, and Ellen Phillips of Monroe; grandchildren: Chelsea (Andrew) Roe, Bryan (Elizabeth) Johnson, and Jared (Jackie) Johnson and Kyla Phillips; sister: Lenore (Steve) Brown of Platteville; brother: Dean Payne of Texas.  She was preceded in death by her father: Donald Payne; sister: Elinore Benet, and brothers: Melvin Payne and Marvin Payne.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church (1541 Old Highway 81, Argyle) with Rev. Ron Brubakken officiating. Burial will be in at a later date. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church.
For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Leore’s name.
