Marilyn J. Rowley, age 79 of rural Darlington, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Dodgeville. She was born on April 7, 1937 in Darlington the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Doering) Hicks. Marilyn graduated from Shullsburg High School.
Marilyn is survived by four children: Rhonda (Ken) Iverson of Highland, Brenda Strub of Monroe, Jim (Dawn) Kilkelly of Barneveld and Sharon (Shaun) Danz of Cross Plains; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: John (Joanne) Hicks of Madison and Dave (Jean) Hicks of rural Shullsburg; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by one grandchild: Bobbie Jo Presbroten.
Marilyn was a member of the American Dairy Goat Association. She showed compassion to every animal she tended to. Marilyn was crafty and very self-sufficient. She shared her love of music with her children by singing with them in the barn while doing chores. Marilyn will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Park Place, Darlington) with Rev. Angela Steinhauer of Darlington United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday July 9, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
