Ricky J. Sime, 40, of rural Ferryville died Tuesday August 28, 2012 at the home of his parents surrounded by family. He was born September 6, 1971 in La Crosse to Robert and Lila (Anderson) Sime Sr. and was baptized and confirmed at the Utica Lutheran Church. Ricky graduated from Seneca High School in 1989, UW-Platteville in 1993 followed by UW-River Falls for his Masters Degree in Science/Biology.  He taught high school agriculture in Cadott for 2 years and has since taught at Seneca High School.  Ricky married Mary Laskaskie on August 6, 1994 at Utica Lutheran Church.

Ricky was a member of the Midwest Whitetail Pro Staff, Seneca Wings and Racks, Crawford County Fair, a 20-year member of Wisconsin Association of Agricultural Educators where he served as a board member from 2004–2006 and also served from 2002-2004 as an alternate vice president.  He was recognized as a mentor numerous times and outstanding young member and the VitaPlus award both in 1995.  Ricky was also a recipient of the Kohl Fellowship Award along with many other awards and honors. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, hunting and being outdoors and on the farm.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; four children Erin, Lindsey, Kwynn and Kaeli all at home; his parents, Robert Sr. and Lila; a sister, Rhonda (Jim) Gorman of Soldiers Grove; two brothers, Robert (Ann) Sime Jr. of Ferryville and Ryan (Jacquee Wallin) Sime of Soldiers Grove; his mother-in-law, Lavonne Laskaskie of Prairie du Chien; his brother-in-law, Albert Eitsert of Viroqua and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Robin Eitsert and father-in-law, Robert Laskaskie.

Funeral services were be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Utica Lutheran Church with Rev. Julie Wollman officiating.  A visitation for family and friends was held Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Reetz-Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.  Online condolences may be sent to tjtbb64@mwt.net.
