Robert J. Aurand, 88 of South Wayne, passed away on June 12, 2018 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital, in Monroe. He was the son of Elso and Marguerite (Grabow) Aurand.
Robert farmed all of his life as a farmer, and he served as a Deputy Sheriff for Lafayette County for many years. Robert was a 4th degree instructor for Taekwondo for 15 years. In his early years he was a deliveryman for Stouffer’s Lane View Poultry.
He loved to fish and hunt as well as planting gardens and cooking.
Surviving is a daughter: Jessica (Bill) Engelke of South Wayne; three sons: Robert E. (Cathy) Aurand of Lena, Ill., David (Susie) Aurand of South Wayne, Joseph Aurand of South Wayne; two brothers: James (Carol) Aurand of Warren, Ill., John Aurand of Phoenix, Ariz. A special longtime friend Penny Merrick of DeKalb, Ill. also survives him. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gerald Aurand; daughter, Rebecca; one granddaughter, Michele; and one grandson, Jared.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, Ill. Pastor Kevin Cernek will officiate at the services. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.
Per his request cremation Rites were accorded.
