This summer I put up a sign about a mile east of Mt. Sterling on Highway 171 containing the statement, “Christ will cast into the Lake of Fire most of you reading this,” with scripture references: Matthew 7:14 – “Because straight is the gate and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life and few there be that find it”; and Revelation 20:15 – “And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire.” Also a question, “Are you saved or lost,” with the reference 1 Corinthians 1:18 – “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.” Also 2 Corinthians 4:3 – “But if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.”
This time of year grievously reminds me how misled and deceived the world is regarding simple facts, pagan customs and fairy tales. Christ was not born in December. Christ is King of kings; gifts were presented to the king, a custom then and now to kings and heads of state. His birth was celebrated but nowhere in scripture did his disciples teach or celebrate his birthday. The Lord came as the Lamb of God to shed his blood and die for sin. The apostle Paul preached Christ and him crucified 1 Corinthians 2:2. The December birthday and tree came from the pagan celebration of the rebirth of their sun god. Then the fairy tale of Santa Claus, the all-knowing make-believe deception perpetuated on innocent children while Christ is portrayed as a helpless baby in a manger. Satan must be proud of his accomplishment and all of you who help him.
God says to worship him in spirit and in truth; vain traditions and ceremonies are not accepted. This country has become a great Babylon, for proof look at Main Street USA this time of year. How wonderful if you could awaken from the intoxicated Christmas stupor imposed on you since childhood and everyone would build a huge bonfire in the center of Main Street to burn every ornament, tree and decoration. Then begin teaching your children the truth.
Many of you know of the football teams, scores and player statistics and can relate plays and facts for hours. But how much scripture do you know? How many Bible verses of Gods word do you discuss? And you expect to be in heaven!
This is your life in this short moment of time. Search for the truth while you can. Be careful, there are many deceptions and false teachers; don’t let them put you to sleep. Some mislead you by leading you to “give your heart to the Lord,” or to pray a certain prayer. Salvation is a gift given by God by revelation through his Word by the Holy Spirit. You as a sinner are lost and blind; seek a place where the Gospel is preached for “all have sinned,” all are condemned already.”
