Platteville’s Delaney Johnson went 4-for-4 with a double and four run scores in Mound City Softball’s 10–8 game one victory at Prairie du Chien Thursday.

The Platteville Mound City summer softball finished the five-week summer season with a 6–8 record after a doubleheader split at Prairie du Chien last Thursday evening.

Delaney Johnson freshman catcher ended the summer campaign on a tear going 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, an RBI, a walk, a stolen base and four runs scored to to power Platteville’s 13-hit attack in a 10–8 game one victory. Johnson had a RBI double and teammate Ava Graney added a two-run single in Platteville’s three-run first inning. Johnson doubled and scored on a Graney single in the top of the third to make it 4–1.

The hosts held the advantage until Platteville sent eight to the plate in the sixth, scoring four to reclaim a 9–6 lead. Johnson singled and scored in the inning. Johnson singled and scored again in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Paige Wagner.

Johnson finished the day (and the season) by going 1-for-2 with an RBI double in Platteville's 8–3 loss in the nightcap.

The freshman backstop also went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored in a 7–4 loss to Highland in the first game of a doubleheader last Tuesday.

Johnson finished the season on a two-week red-hot streak, batting .565 (13-for-23) with three doubles, one triple, a team-high nine RBI, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases in Platteville's final eight games. She went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBIs in a pair of losses to Iowa–Grant Friday, Aug. 24, after going 3-for-5 with three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in a pair of victories over visiting River Ridge Wednesday, July 22.
