Ithacas Hannah Adsit prepares to attempt a block during a recent volleyball match.

ITHACA — The Ithaca Bulldogs opened the Ridge and Valley Conference portion of their season with a three-set sweep of the Weston Silver Eagles at Ithaca Thursday night.

The Bulldogs raced to a 25-8 win in the opener and followed with 25-16 and 25-17 wins.

Valerie Laue had seven kills, and Alyssa Clary totaled six plus one block. Hannah Adsit totaled three kills and three aces while Riley Crook delivered 15 assists.

“We had a great start to our conference season,” said coach Cheryl Crook. “Riley did a great job moving the ball and involving all of our hitters. Valerie, Alyssa and Hannah are finding their rhythm and hitting hard. Our back row (Emily Mueller, Katy Stafford and Bindl) is coming on strong by giving a first pass that allows us to execute our offense. The win was a team effort and securing it three sets means we were much more consistent in our play. We definitely want to keep building on whet is working and keep improving to prepare for Wauzeka-Steuben.

The Bulldogs are slated to host Wauzeka-Steuben. They will also play in the Cassville Tournament at Cassville on Saturday and return to Ridge and Valley Conference action at Seneca Tuesday. Seneca defeated the Bulldogs in an early season non-conference match.
