Kickapoo’s Kourtnee Alexander hit two early three-pointers to stake the Predators to a 6–5 lead.

But the Hillsboro Lady Tigers’ full-court pressure eventually got the best of Kickapoo.

Hillsboro shook off an early deficit and pulled away for a 50–37 non-conference victory Friday night to improve to 2–0 on the young season.

“Kickapoo came out hot, and took the early 6-5 lead,” said head coach Scott Egan. “But our full court pressure began to get the best of Kickapoo and helped the us take a 30–15 lead into the half.”

In the second half, the Tigers’ lead never got under double digits.

Sophomore forward Sydney Johnson led Hillsboro with 11 points and four rebounds. Senior center Morgan Huntley added 10 points and four boards.

Senior guard Mackenzie Sullivan scored eight points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Senior Destiny Shore chipped in eight points and two boards.

Senior Brittany Borchardt led the Tigers with five assists.

Hillsboro will host undefeated Royall (4–0) on Thursday before hosting Viroqua on Friday. The Tigers will travel to Wonewoc–Center (0–2, 0–0) on Tuesday.
