Sebranek wins 195 pound title at Lee Griffin Invite

KICKAPOO — Senior Max Sebranek won the 195–pound title and fellow senior Tyler Seeley placed second at 152 pounds to lead Hillsboro to a fourth-place team finish at the nine-team Lee Griffin Kickapoo Invitational on Saturday.

Sebranek (16–6) picked up pins over Westby’s Trent Gander and De Soto’s Jakob Hensley to reach the 195-pound title match.

Then he finished his perfect day with a 2:24 pin over Jeff Milz of Kickapoo/La Farge.

Seeley (6–8) advanced with a first-round bye, then pinned Luther’s Philip Schultz at the 1:35 mark of his semifinal match.

In the 152-pound championship match Seeley was pinned by De Soto’s Jared Scoville.

Fellow senior Logan Rohn (5–9) won three straight consolation matches to place third at 126 pounds, after a quarterfinal loss to Gavin McCauley of Kickapoo/La Farge.

Sophomore Nolan Hammer (9–8) also went 3–1 on the day to place third at 145 pounds.

Sophomore Dylan Thew (7–11) went 2–2 and placed fourth at 220.

On Thursday Hillsboro suffered a lop-sided 73–6 dual meet loss to SBC power Cashton.

The Eagles on 10 of the 11 contested matches and picked up forfeits at 106, 132 and 160 in the easy win.

Sebranek notched a 47-second pin at 182 pounds for Hillsboro’s only win.

The Tigers fell to 1–3 overall and 1–2 in SBC duals.

Hillsboro returns to action Saturday when the Tigers host the Hillsboro Invitational. Next Tuesday the Tigers will host New Lisbon.
