The Hillsboro baseball team finished the regular season 7–12 overall and tied for fourth place in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.
The Tigers blanked Royall (8–13, 6–8) May 18 and by virtue of back-to-back wins in their final two games earned the second seed, a first-round bye and a second-round home game in their six-team regional.
The WIAA Division 4 playoffs began Tuesday and Hillsboro hosted the winner of a first-round matchup between No. 3 Royall (8–13) and No. 6 New Lisbon (4–13) June 3 at Hillsboro’s Fireman’s Memorial Park.

UPDATE: Hillsboro hosted Royall in the first-round contest June 3. Details will appear in the June 11 Sentry Enterprise.

Hillsboro 9, Reedsburg 2 (NC)

The Tigers closed the regular season  May 28 with a 9-2  non-conference loss to the host Reedsburg Beavers.

The Tigers walked Reedsburg  senior Lucas Muchow in the first. He stole second base, and scored the Beavers’ first run on two Hillsboro fielding errors.

Another defensive breakdown  led to another run when Hillsboro missed catching a Ben Kellner pop fly. The Tigers then loaded the bases, but got out of the inning without further damage on a Brady Nehring ground out.

Hillsboro answered with its first run in the top of the second, but Reedsburg scored four more runs in the home half of the inning to open up a 6-1 lead.

The Beavers then scored three more insurance runs–one in the fourth and two in the sixth.

They finished their regular season  7-12 overall and 4-8 in the Badger North conference.
