POTOSI — At one point during the 2019–20 boys basketball season, coach Mike Uppena and his Potosi Chieftains were sitting with a record of 5–6. Since then, the Potosi boys have won 14 straight games and won a Division 5 regional title last Saturday night with a 59–48 victory over No. 3 seed Kickapoo.
The Chieftains (19–6) will be looking for their 15th consecutive victory Thursday night in a sectional semifinal contest against Wauzeka/Steuben (21–3) at Belmont. This coach Mike Uppena’s third regional title in 18 seasons, the last coming 10 years ago in 2010.
