Fennimore boys thump Riverdale, 61-39

     The Fennimore boys basketball team got back on the winning track Saturday afternoon with a 61-39 win over Riverdale at the SWAL Jamboree played at UW-Platteville.
     The Eagles shot 57.5 percent from the field and were led in double figures by Mitch Davis and Aaron Swan with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
     After trailing for the first half of the first quarter, the Eagles got big baskets from Seth Henkel and Swan to take the lead at 13-10. The Eagles held on to the lead for the rest of the quarter, up 19-13 going into the second.
     The Eagles continued to attack offensively in the second quarter, with points coming from Trey Rosemeyer, Brock Hertrampf, Davis and Swan en route to a 33-19 lead at the half. The well-balanced effort was reflected in the score book with nine different players scoring points for the Eagles.
     The Eagles led by as many as 23 points in the third quarter before rolling to the 61-39 win. Other scorers for the Eagles included Henkel with nine, Hertrampf with eight, Rosemeyer with six, Austin Fifrick with five, Trent Napp with four, and    Tyler Hunt and Brandon Adkins with two each.
     The Chieftains were led by Dakota Lins and Alex Meister with nine points each.
     With the win, the Eagles improved to 3-3 in conference play.
     Last Tuesday night, the Eagles traveled to Pecatonica for a non-conference match-up. The Orioles held the edge at the end of the first half, up 24-22, before the Eagles outscored the hosts 17-11 in the third quarter to take a 39-35 lead.
     The Orioles would have the last say, outscoring the Eagles 16-10 in the final quarter to take the 51-49 lead. The Eagles were led by Swan with 16 points and Henkel with 10.
     The Eagles (3-3, 5-8) traveled to Southwestern Tuesday night and will go to Boscobel Friday night before hosting Lancaster next Tuesday, Jan. 24.
