BOSCOBEL - Boscobel runners competed at the Westby Invitational last Tuesday and the River Valley Invitational in Spring Green on Saturday.

The boys and girls both placed in the top five of the 16-team meet at Westby, with Jordan Molzof (fifth, 18:35.4), Mackenzie Kauffman (eighth, 21:42.4), and Grace Glasbrenner (12th, 22:09.3) all receiving medals.

The boys placed 9th and the girls 7th at the high caliber meet in Spring Green, with Jordan Molzof and Mackenzie Kauffman receiving medals.

“We have such a young team, I'm so excited to see what we can do in a few weeks,” said Coach Skyler Reynolds. “We battled through really hot and humid weather on Tuesday and wet/muddy conditions on Saturday. It's been an interesting week with storms and heat and now cooling off to fall type weather. The upcoming week should be beneficial to putting in some quality workouts.

“We have put in a couple of big weeks of training, which can make racing at your best tough at the current time. The kids really trust in what we do and understand it will pay off in the end. We have seen steady improvement from our first meet until now. Regardless of conditions and the difficult week, our team averaged 1:13 seconds faster than the previous race. We saw some huge time improvements from September 1 until now.”

Michael Ngyuen, Jack Latham, Andrew Steines, Alyssa Davis and Leah Bloedow all took off over one minute since the previous race. Gideon Dalton, Trevor Martin, Chase Beinborn, James Troxel, Jayce Zimpel, and Sadie Johnston all too off two minutes or more.

“We are going to focus on steady improvements and see where we are in a few weeks,” said the coach. “This has been a very exciting group that continues to work hard and takes the little things very seriously to get better.”
