Iowa-Grant sophomore Jenks earns state cross country berth

IowaGrant sophomore Jordan Jenks earn his first trip to the state cross country meet with a ninth-place finish at Saturdays WIAA Boscobel Sectional.

     Sophomore Jordan Jenks has been the Iowa–Grant/Highland cross country team’s unquestioned leader all season.
     Saturday he parlayed that talent into his first berth in the WIAA State Cross County Meet.
     Jenks finished ninth at Saturday’s Division 3 Boscobel Sectional with a time of 17:30 to earn one of the five individual qualifiers spots.
     Jenks D3 state race Saturday at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids will begin at 11 a.m.
     “Jordan really rose to the challenge by knocking off 45 seconds from his time at the Boscobel Invite two weeks earlier,” said Iowa–Grant head coach Corey McCracken. “He just missed state by a narrow margin last year so it was good to see him reach is goal.
     Fellow I–G sophomore Corey McCracken finished 37th at Saturday’s sectional with a time of 19:02.
     Senior Shaun Soman finished his final season strong with a new personal record of 19:12 and 41st-place finish.
     Senior Grace Enloe paced the Iowa–Grant/Highland girls with a 38th-place, 18:20 finish, a 1:28 drop in time from two weeks earlier on the same course.
     Sophomore Shania Sarbacker, junior Chakayla Stanek, and freshman Caitlyn Fowell all dropped their times by at least 30 seconds.
     Sarbacker finished 59th in a time of 19:35. Stanek placed 74th (20:01), while Fowell finished 84th (20:45).
