The Lancaster varsity baseball team has picked the right time to get hot, as they have put together a seven-game winning streak dating back to April 27, and have won eight of their last nine games dating back to April 25.

Most recently, the Arrows (6-3, 9-4) have picked up two wins over Richland Center, and a non-conference victory over Cuba City.

Last Tuesday evening in Richland Center, the Arrows used seven hits to post a 5-4 victory over the host Hornets.

Sophomore Andy Ryan led the team with a 3-for-4 hitting performance that included two RBIs and one run scored.

Leading 4-3 going into the seventh, Lancaster got an RBI single from Ryan to score Brett Snider and make it a 5-3 ball game.

The Hornets put a scare into Lancaster by plating a run in the bottom half of the final inning, but left the tying run on second base.

Ryan picked up the win on the mound, giving up one earned run off three hits in two innings of action. Winston Zenz pitched five innings, giving up three earned runs off four hits before being replace by Ryan.

Last Friday evening, the two teams got together for another game at Richland Center, where the Arrows pulled out a 9-0 victory over the Hornets.

Lancaster had six hits in this contest, including RBI singles from Jake Taylor, Winston Zenz, Nate Holzinger and Brock Snider.

Brett Snider picked up the win on the mound, giving up no earned runs off one hit in three innings of work.

Taylor pitched two innings, giving up no runs off one hit, while Brock Snider pitched the final two innings, also giving up just one hit.

In non-conference action this past Monday evening, Lancaster extended their winning streak with a 6-0 shutout of host Cuba City.

The Arrows finished with six hits and got a 2-for-2 performance from Zenz, and a 2-for-3 performance from Brock Snider.

Zenz picked up the win on the mound.

Following this past Tuesday’s night’s home game against Platteville, the Arrows will travel to Prairie du Chien on Thursday, then host River Valley on Friday. They will then be at Potosi on Saturday.
