PLATTEVILLE — A year ago, the Platteville girls’ basketball team needed a late Sami Martin basket to survive an upset bid from visiting Lancaster.

No such dramatics were needed when the Flying Arrows came to town Friday night.

It took a few minutes for the undefeated Hillmen — also top-ranked team in Division 3 — to settle in, but once they did there was no stopping this runaway locomotive.

Platteville scored the game’s first nine points and held the visiting Flying Arrows to just one basket in the first 8:06. The Hillmen raced out to a 20–2 lead less than eight minutes into the game and cruised to a dominating 66–29 victory.

The Hillmen, who easily could have overlooked the struggling Arrows with games against Crandon (4–1, #7 in Division 4), Poynette (3–3) or Waukesha West (3–4), and undefeated Lake Mills (9–0, #3 in D3) looming in the next two weeks, but took care of business at both ends of the court to improve to 9–0 on the season and 3–0 in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference.
