Flying Arrows place fourth at River Valley Invite

Lancaster seniors Brooke Elliott (right) and Sydney Wagner (left) are a big reason for the Flying Arrow's recent success at area cross country meets. Last Saturday at the River Valley Invite, Elliott placed third of 102 runners, while Wagner finished 21st.

 

The Lancaster boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed in last Saturday’s River Valley Invite, where both squads placed fourth of 14 teams, and had some very impressive individual performances.

On the girls’ side, Lancaster senior Brooke Elliott finished third of 102 runners with an impressive time of 20:14.25, which was 38 seconds off the leader from Boscobel (Keely Foley).

Fellow senior Sydney Wagner came in 21st with a time of 22:13, while Lancaster junior Brianna Hampton was right behind her in 22nd place with a time of 22:30.

Lancaster junior Nicole Wolf placed 27th with a time of 22:47, while freshman Megan Volkmann placed 31st at 22:53.

In all, the Lancaster ladies had an average time of 22:08, which earned them fourth-place honors.

The Lancaster boys also placed fourth as a team, and had an average time of 18:39, as their top four runners ran in a pack for much of the race.

Leading the charge for the Flying Arrow boys was junior Josh Schwantes, whose time of 18:30 earned him 23rd place, while senior Tyler Fritz placed 25th (18:35), freshman Austin Mumm 26th (18:36) and senior Mike Adams 28th (18:42).

Rounding out Lancaster’s top five was junior Jordan Jerrett, who placed 34th with a time of 18:49.

Cassville also had two boys running in Saturday’s meet, as senior Andrew Ihm placed 66th with a time of 20:06, and junior Jared Kartman was 92nd with a time of 21:58.
