Tigers open with 4-2 loss at Wonewoc-Center
Softball season is finally underway

WONEWOC — The season is half over as far as the calendar goes, but for the Hillsboro softball team it finally got start just last Tuesday.

After six straight postponements, the Tigers finally opened the season with a 4–2 Scenic Bluffs loss at Wonewoc–Center.

Both Kaitlyn Skaro and Rego went 2-for-3 and scored a run in the Wolves win. Skaro also double in the victory.

The Wolves scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the fifth.
Sophomore Maddie Benson collected the win in the pitching circle allowing just two runs, one earned, on five hits in seven innings. She struck out 11 Tigers, but also walked nine.

Senior CJ Hofmeister took the loss for Hillsboro (0–1, 0–1 SBC) allowing four earned runs on six hits in six innings. She struck out two and walked three.

Jaimy Pettit tripled for Hillsboro in the loss.

The Tigers scored single runs in the second and fifth innings.

Hillsboro’s SBC home game with New Lisbon was rained out last Thursday. It will be made up at a later date.

The Tigers were scheduled to participate in the Richland Center Invitational Saturday, but the event was cancelled and will not be made up due to poor field conditions.

Monday’s conference doubleheader at Necedah was also rained out and will be made up at a later date.

The Tigers are scheduled to play a doubleheader at Brookwood today. They will return to action Saturday at the La Farge Tournament.
