On Feb. 2, Lucas A. Oyen, son of Randy and Nancy Oyen of Lancaster, graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif.
During the 13 weeks of recruit training, he was trained in both class and field environments which included instruction in first aid, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, the basics of the M16A4 service rifle and close order drill.
During training Oyen qualified as an expert marksman and held the role of scribe for his platoon.
Oyen will report to the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, Calif., for his next phase of training.
