Boscobel Public Library to offer browsing by appointment only
Boscobel Library

BOSCOBEL - Like Willy Wonka’s factory in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Boscobel Public Library is springing back to life starting Monday after a hiatus of almost a year. You don’t need a golden ticket to gain entry into the library though – all you need is your library card and an appointment!

Library staff members are taking reservations for browsing the stacks, using a computer (three will be available), and doing research on the microfilm machine (arrangements will be for either the morning or afternoon as time allows).

Appointments will last 45 minutes to allow for adequate time cleaning and sanitizing after the public has left. Additionally, only up to five members of the same household will be allowed in to browse at the same time to limit the capacity of those in the building.

Hours available to peruse the library will be for 45 minutes only by appointment from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, and Friday; and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Everyone in the building must wear a maskand try to socially distance from staff members. A self-checkout station and hand sanitizing areas will be setup for the public to utilize.

Curbside pickup will still be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, and Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Boscobel Public Library closed to the public for browsing on March 17, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the doors were closed, it doesn’t mean staff wasn’t busy! Staff members created and operated the Boscobel COVID-19 Resource Center, providing information and connecting the public to resources such as volunteer drivers, information on where to get tested for the virus, where to get vaccinations, and more along with the normal, daily operations of the library.

As vaccination numbers rise and infection numbers decrease, we hope to safely open the library up even more to the public and offer further programming as Grant County allows and advises us. Furthermore as the weather starts getting nicer, more outside activities will be held including storytimes for children, book club for adults, craft events, etc.

To schedule an appointment when the library reopens March 1, call us at 608-375-5723 or email me at LibraryBoscobel@gmail.com. Keep up with our events and goings-on by following our Facebook page at facebook.com/BoscoLibrary.

We look forward to seeing you safely in-person!
